Bou Bhaat (Reception)

Traditionally, the bou bhaat (which literally translates to "bride rice") involves the newly wed bride proving her mature and nurturing demeanor by preparing and serving a feast for her new family.  Upon successful completion, the evening brings forth a grand party in her honor.

Everyone is invited to celebrate with us one last time with an evening of dinner, dancing and general merriment.  Expect a few surprises along the way as the week-long celebration comes to an end.

From the triumphant arrival of the groom upon the back of an elephant to the bride, eyes blinded from the light of her future husband by a betel leaf, carried to the mandap (altar) by her brothers/friends to the seven rounds that the betrothed shall circumnavigate around the ceremonial fire, we hope to share the unique experience of our cultural heritage with all of you!

Dinner will be served after the ceremony.  The party will continue throughout the night for our close friends and family with music, "adda" and assorted shenanigans.
